Last week I met with an in-house counsel lawyer for a corporation called Sodexo.
I had a set number of questions already prepared for my interview with him. These questions ranged from asking about how to balance work and personal life to questions about law school and what their experience was like.
We talked for about an hour on Zoom, and there were so many points where the connection would cut out so we would have to end the call and restart.
Although there were some internet issues, we were about to cover many topics that relate to my field of concentration and expand on the questions I asked him.
He gave me great advice on what I should expect in law school pertaining to workload, and what classes would be most beneficial once I enter the workforce.
He also described what his schedule was like as a younger lawyer who worked in big law. This was extremely helpful in giving me a realistic idea of what it will be like when I first get out of law school and begin at a firm with respect to hours on the job.
He summarized what his life is like now that he transitioned over into in-house counsel at a corporation, and how he recommends starting in big law first and then transitioning over as well.
This interview was extremely helpful in giving me so much important information about my topic for the future.
